Acute Conditions
Some of the conditions listed in this section may eventually become chronic disorders or present itself in chronic form. Primary care providers that build an excellent rapport with their patients, will allow patients to feel confident and comfortable with their provider and as such, they will present themselves in the clinic for any and all ailments. To prevent the acute episode from becoming chronic, a thorough evaluation of the symptoms and the underlying cause must be undertaken. The primary care provider is best suited for this as they would know the patient better than a clinician that is seeing the patient for the first time. This highlights the importance of building a strong relationship with the patient and this provider-patient relationship is a central tenet in primary care.
